Incorporated in 1989, United Care is a nonprofit foster care agency that offers support services for abused and neglected foster children. It facilitates permanency through adoption and guardianship. The agency also provides life skills preparation and job training options for foster youths. United Care operates more than two group home facilities in Los Angeles and offers care and supervision programs for girls between the ages of 8 and 17. Its group homes provide individual psychological evaluation, psychiatric assessment, psychotropic medication and therapy programs. The agency has supervised the placement of more than 250 foster youths in its group homes. United Care conducts on-site community college classes. It operates Foster Family Agency, which recruits and trains foster parents and reunites children with their birth families and relatives. Foster Family Agency offers transitional housing and counseling services.
