The California Department of Aging provides services to senior citizens and adults with disabilities in California. It is a part of the California Health and Human Services Agency and offers supportive and in-home services and congregate and home-delivered meals. It maintains various multipurpose senior health care centers in California. The department also administers a program for community service employment of senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. In addition, the California Department of Aging provides health insurance counseling, case management and adult day health care services. The department operates an Alzheimer's disease day care resource center and performs a range of functions related to advocacy, planning, coordination, interagency linkages, information sharing, brokering, monitoring and evaluation through various private and public sector advocates.
