Dr. Simona Korik-Barrett, OD, graduated magna cum laude in her degree of Bachelor of Science in Biology from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. She was then a Dean's Lister in her medical degree of Doctor of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry. She completed a Pediatric Eye Care Specialty Rotation at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, in which she was responsible for conducting pediatric eye examinations on children ranging in age from newborns through 17 years old. The main emphasis of Dr. Korik-Barretts work there was on the correction and prevention of amblyopia, pediatric ocular disease, strabismus, juvenile glaucoma and a number of other pediatric eye conditions. Following this, Dr. Korik-Barrett went on to a Specialty Rotation in Ocular Disease at East New York Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Brooklyn. Her work there was focused on a full range of vision and eye disorders, including treating patients diagnosed with glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and many other conditions. Dr. Korik-Barrett joined Bronx Eye Associates in 2009 and became a partner in 2012.
