Neal Joseph, M.D. is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. Following in the footsteps of his father, a gastroenterologist and his mother, a nutritionist, Dr. Joseph got a head start to learning about digestive disorders, and this early exposure inspired his passion to become a physician. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Biology from the prestigious accelerated B.A./M.D. 7-year Combined Degree Program at the George Washington University, where he was named a University Honors Program Scholar. After earning his medical degree, Dr. Joseph completed his internal medicine residency at University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital, and subsequently pursued specialty training in gastroenterology at Lenox Hill Hospital. During his fellowship, he sought additional training in liver diseases at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Joseph’s clinical interests encompass the full breadth of gastroenterology and endoscopy, including colon cancer screening, colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, polyp removal, acid reflux, abdominal pain, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. He has published numerous original research articles and presented his work at several national conferences. He was awarded the distinguished American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Diversity Award at the Digestive Disease Week Crystal Awards for his excellence in research devoted to promoting minority-related issues in gastroenterology.

Dr. Joseph is currently an attending physician with privileges at Lenox Hill Hospital and New York University Langone Medical Center. He feels honored to help care for his patients and enjoys the opportunity to teach medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Joseph is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, and the New York Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
