The North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services North Carolina Agricultural Statistics division brings together current and historic data relating to North Carolina agriculture. This service has been provided by the National Agricultural Statistics Service of the United States Department of Agriculture in cooperation with the NCDA & CS since its establishment in 1919. The collection and dissemination of agricultural statistics began in 1863 and is one of the oldest activities of the USDA. Information is collected in a cooperative program by NASDA enumerators who collect statistical data from both personal on-farm and telephone surveys. The success of these cooperative relations can be attributed to the response of farmers and agribusinesses to its surveys. The information collected by individual operations is held strictly confidential and is published at a state and county level for use by farmers, economists, the general public and other government agencies. The North Carolina Agricultural Statistics division maintains an office in Raleigh, N.C.
