Founded in 1968, as a small community water utility, Lee County Utilities works to provide customers with reliable, high-quality water and wastewater services. It offers services to more than 250,000 customers and responds to drinking water and sewer service requirements. The department supports an industrial pretreatment program that is approved by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The program involves the removal, reduction and alteration of pollutants in industrial wastewater prior to discharge into a domestic wastewater collection system.
