The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers is a trade union that represents more than 730,000 workers in over 200 industries. The union maintains accounting, aerospace, automotive, collective bargaining, human resources, purchasing and legal departments. Its support staff department deals with bylaws and internal disputes, engineering and housekeeping, membership records, purchasing, duplicating and mailing services. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers operates a store that provides a range of caps, bags, shirts and watches. Founded in 1888, the union is affiliated with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). It represents nearly 117,000 active and retired members in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
