Georgia Mohs & Skin Cancer Center is a general and surgical dermatology practice in Savannah, GA. We specialize in the treatment of all types of skin disorders and the removal of skin cancer. Mohs surgery is performed by our Mohs surgeon, Dr. Richard James. We welcome new patients and referrals, and we accept most insurance plans.

Our practice also has an in-house pathology lab located in Savannah that services our location as well as several other practices in the area. Laboratory services include evaluation of skin biopsies and excisions, slide preparation and immunohistochemical staining.Dr. Richard James is a board certified dermatologist by the American Board of Dermatology since 2000. Dr. James graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. He then received his Doctor of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 1993. After interning at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii, Dr. James completed his residency in dermatology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. In 2006, he completed the Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship at The Skin Surgery Center in Winston- Salem, North Carolina. Dr. James is retired US Army Colonel, with 24 years of active duty service n the Medical Corps. During his time in the military, he has served as a flight surgeon and received several awards such as Flight Surgeon of the Year, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star. Dr. James currently serves as President of the Association of Military Dermatologists. He is also an active member of the Georgia Society of Dermatologists, as well as a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
