Located in Los Angeles, 49th Street Elementary School is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. It serves students in grades kindergarten through five. Founded in 1913, the school s academic curriculum includes English, mathematics, science, social studies, and health and physical education. 49th Street Elementary School offers an African-American history program that encourages children to draw pictures to celebrate African-American history. In addition, it offers a range of after-school programs that involves students in homework, reading, sports, arts and crafts, projects and recreational activities. The school has nurses, psychologists, coordinators and coaches on its staff.
