First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Our services offer liturgy in the Reformed tradition with organ and choral music. Our mission statement, Inspired by the grace and truth of Christ, we nurture one anothers faith to do Gods work in the world, was approved by Session, our governing body, in May 2016, with an affirmation of the following ten values to guide the leaders of our church as they prayerfully plan for our congregations future. We share Gods gracious love through joyful worship and challenging preaching. We serve the community through ministries of healing, reconciliation, and justice. We teach the faith in ways that stretch the mind, strengthen the spirit, and address the needs of all Gods people. We build up the body of Christ (the Church) by equipping disciples with the skills and grace to extend Jesus invitationfollow meto others. Children are valued at First Presbyterian Church. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers (through age 3) in our professionally-staffed nursery. Parents are provided with pagers so they can be contacted while they worship. Beach Day School, a faith-based preschool and Kindergarten, is an educational and outreach ministry of First Presbyterian Church and is located in our building. Students, ages 2 - 6, participate in a developmentally appropriate program that promotes the spiritual, social, and cognitive growth and development of each child.
