The Division of Family Support, also known as DFS, provides medical support and nutritional assistance services. Located in Hopkinsville, Ky., the division administers the Food Stamp Program, which offers financial assistance services for low-income individuals and families to purchase food. It also administers the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which includes financial assistance for low-income families to supplement their household budgets. The Division of Family Support offers educational and technical assistance services. The division is a part of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, which provides adult day care and employment assistance services. The department offers transportation, treatment, and mental health and respite care services to individuals with disabilities.
