Northern High School serves the educational needs of students in nine through 12 grades in Durham, N.C. Its curriculum includes arts, English, foreign language, math, science, social studies, career and technology, health and physical education. It offers advanced placement courses in English literature and composition, calculus, statistics, environmental science, computer science, biology, physics, Spanish, French, United States history, European history, chemistry, Latin, German and studio art. It offers a wide variety of athletic activities, including football, basketball, tennis, golf and track. It offers various co-curricular activities, including music, photography, artwork, service clubs, curriculum-related clubs and special interest clubs. Its Students Against Destructive Decisions organization educate and inform students of the dangers of destructive decisions; concentrating on reckless driving, driving while impaired, failure to wear seatbelts and suicide. It also prints yearbook and publishes newspaper.
