Dr. Robert Simek was born and raised in West Texas and is proud to call Lubbock "home". A graduate of Monterey High School, he attended Texas Tech, where he received his Animal Science degree from the College of Agriculture Sciences and Natural Resources and then went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from the TTUHSC School of Medicine. Dr. Simek chose to remain in Lubbock for his General Pediatrics Residency before moving to Atlanta, Georgia to complete his fellowship training in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Emory School of Medicine and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Dr. Simek's professional interests include general pediatric gastroenterology, immune-mediated conditions of the gut such as inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) and eosinophilic esophagitis, and pediatric endoscopy. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and a member of North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) as well as numerous other professional organizations.
Dr. Simek was blessed to have married above himself and is a proud father of four wonderful children. He enjoys carrying on the family farming and ranching traditions, raising and training quarter horses, fishing, and hunting and occasionally enjoys taking in a round of golf when time permits.
