Custom Cable, a Steelcase Company, was founded in 1980. Based in Tampa, Fla., Custom Cable began by manufacturing communications cable assemblies. Its first generation products were cable assemblies used on mainframe and minicomputers. The company now offers a line of central office, custom, standards based and network cables, and connectivity products including data and power management, in addition to materials for enterprise and network cabling systems. It also offers the expertise to produce wiring harnesses & build-to-print cables for original equipment manufacturers. In 1981, the company expanded to include Structured Cabling Installation Services. Custom Cable designs and installs cabling systems for companies that are single suite, multi-floor, remote locations and outside plant campus environments.
