Christine Thorne, MD, provides primary care for adults and families, including preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.Her research interests include chronic disease management as preventive care, hypertension, and diabetes management. She also collaborates with Be There San Diego to study heart disease and stroke prevention across populations.Dr. Thorne is deeply committed to improving the health of the community. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, she was a primary care physician at Family Health Centers of San Diego, where she provided care for the medically underserved. She continues to care for individuals and families who face barriers to health care through her work with Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigrant Services. Dr. Thorne completed a residency in preventive medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine and an internship in internal medicine at University of Chicago Hospital. She earned her medical degree from University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle and a master of public health degree in epidemiology from San Diego State University.
