Chelsey Smith is a rheumatologist who treats patients with rheumatic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis), scleroderma, myositis, and other conditions. Her research interests include studying women with autoimmune disease in pregnancy and the effects on children born to mothers who take immune-modulating medications. Her prior research focused on Behcets Disease a rare, chronic, autoimmune disorder and neuropsychiatric manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus. She also focused on assessment of cardiovascular risk in rheumatoid arthritis. Her work has appeared in several research-related journals. Dr. Smith completed a fellowship in rheumatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a residency in internal medicine at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and she is board certified in internal medicine.Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with her daughter and mini goldendoodle.
