Therapy is available for individual adults and adolescents and also for couples. My approach is cognitive-behavioral, which means that we work with your thoughts and your behaviors. A relatively new, innovative therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is also available. ACT synthesizes previous generations of cognitive-behavioral therapy and is sometimes referred to as a "third wave" of cognitive therapy which basically means it is a new, cutting-edge therapy. Experiential exercises are often used and ACT's underpinnings are found not only in cognitive therapy but also in Zen, mindfulness meditation and other spiritual practices. Hypnotherapy is also available and can be applied to a wide variety of presenting problems.
