Association of Fundraising Professionals is an association supporting nonprofit and charitable organizations. Founded in 1960, AFP was formerly known as the National Society of Fund Raising Executives and serves more than 27,000 members in over 175 chapters worldwide. It works to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. It also specializes in the development and growth of fund-raising organizations committed to enhance philanthropy and establish a code of ethics and professional practices. The association also collects, researches, publishes and disseminates historical, managerial and technical information on fund raising. Its educational programs include the Annual International Conference on Fund Raising, leadership workshops and audio conferences. The association also organizes award ceremonies that honor individuals and organizations for their extraordinary efforts in philanthropy and fund raising. AFP is headquartered in Alexandria, Va.
