Dr. Pizarro is one of the world's first specialists to be Board Certified in both Gynecology and in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. He is the only such specialist in Northwest Louisiana. Dr. Pizarro has specialized in da vinci® robotic surgery for women's health since 2005 and was the first surgeon in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma to do so. This technique allows the surgeon to perform surgeries through small incisions that in the past would have required a very large incision. In addition to postgraduate training in Ob-Gyn, he studied Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology) for 3 years at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. Dr. Pizarro specializes in minimally invasive hysterectomy, in-office Her Option endometrial ablation for heavy periods, mesh-free robotic repair of pelvic prolapse, and the care of female urinary incontinence. Dr. Pizarro has called Shreveport his home since 1983. He is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in Louisiana and is in good standing. He studied for eight years at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport to complete medical school and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. For the following three years Dr. Pizarro received Fellowship training in Pelvic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, Arizona. There he gained experience in conservative and surgical management of urinary incontinence, advanced gynecologic laparoscopy and robotics, management of complex gynecologic conditions, and female pelvic reconstruction. At the Mayo Clinic Dr. Pizarro presented lectures to gynecologic specialists, allied health and nursing professionals on topics ranging from surgical anatomy to wound healing to the care of postoperative gynecologic patients. His training has included instruction from specialists in colorectal surgery, urology, and pelvic physical therapy. His private practice has focused on patient-centered specialty women's health care since 2005. A woman's best health depends on highly trained & truly focused medical care.
